Penetrometers (soil densitometers)
A penetrometer (density meter, soil hardness meter) is a modern electronic device for measuring soil density in the field. Allows you to detect the depth of the plow sole and the degree of its compaction with high accuracy. The DATAFIELD penetrometer is designed to detect problem areas at various depths with the ability to link measurements to GPS coordinates.
The appearance of compactions is possible on any type of soil. When cultivating the soil, the wheels of heavy agricultural machinery create pressure on the soil surface. Under constant pressure, the soil particles are compacted and fill the air gaps, thereby forming powerful soil compactions in places where the equipment passes - a "plow sole". These seals prevent moisture from entering, which disrupts the normal development of the plant's root system. Instruments for measuring the density of the soil allow you to determine which areas of the soil are problematic and need attention. A set of timely measures to eliminate soil compaction will allow to increase productivity while saving money and time.
